Today we did a thing.
We woke both our boys up at 4:45am carrying their sleepy bodies to our truck and headed for my husband and I’s favorite place, West Virginia.
Before we had kids, we talked about how we couldn’t wait to take our future children to ride our favorite trails one day.
And then walked in Autism.
For years it felt impossible to go to a restaurant across town let alone a full day trip riding four wheelers in West Virginia.
But today felt different. Perhaps it was Brantley’s maturity or possibly our growing courage has shifted our perspective. But, the once daunting thought of outings no longer overwhelms us.
We have learnt to roll with the punches that Autism delivers and pivot to accommodate our wild child’s needs. Today, that meant trading our four wheelers for side by sides so that we could introduce our boys to a place that truly feels like heaven on earth.
A trip we will surely repeat. #autismfamily #autismlife #autismparents
