Embracing Unexpected Dreams: A Journey through Adaptive Baseball with my Son

As I reflect on my childhood spent on the softball diamond, the vision of watching my own children play baseball one day filled me with excitement and anticipation. Little did I know, life had its own curveballs to throw my way. When Autism entered our lives, it felt like my cherished dream of cheering on my kids from the stands was suddenly struck out at home plate.

However, amidst the challenges and uncertainties, tomorrow holds a remarkable milestone for our family. Both of my boys, Bronson and Brantley, will be stepping onto the baseball field. Bronson will be playing his second little league game of the year, while Brantley will be making his Baseball debut in Miracle League, an adaptive baseball league designed for individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

The anticipation is palpable as I envision Brantley, paired with a buddy, ready to take on the diamond. It's a moment that may not align with the picture-perfect image I had painted of parenthood, but I've come to realize that it's something far more profound. It's about embracing the unexpected, finding beauty in the unconventional, and celebrating every victory, no matter how small they may seem.

Watching my sons defy the odds and pursue the game of baseball fills me with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. It's a reminder that dreams may evolve, but the love and support that surround us remain constant. Tomorrow's game isn't just about baseball; it's about resilience and inclusion.

So as we prepare for tomorrow, I find myself filled with hope and excitement for the journey that lies ahead. #autismfamily #autismlife #disability #miracleleague #autismparents #adaptivebaseball
