It’s funny how sometimes we forget how much Brantley’s medications help.
He is a wild one. And despite the cocktail of 3 medications, we often find ourselves watching his energetic behaviors and questioning if the medications actually help.
I guess we just get used to the new level of his wild ways and forget the full impact of an unmedicated, untamed Brantley.
However, due to some unexplained constipation, we were advised to have Brantley go without one of his medications for 24 hours, then resume it at half the previous dosage to assess its effect on his bowels.
The decrease is a shot in the dark at solving the issue, but we are currently 5 days in and the jury is still out on if it has helped.
However, one thing is abundantly clear: that one capsule has a remarkable impact on his life. Without it, nothing is safe from Brantley’s wrath. We are all hands on deck trying to keep up with him as we ride out the next 9 days.
I'm uncertain if the reduction will ultimately resolve Brantley's constipation, but it has certainly reminded us that the medications we give our lovable yet wild boy do make a difference. #autismfamily #autismlife #disability
