Navigating Parenthood in the Midst of a Wild Rodeo

Caring for Brantley feels like being in the middle of a bustling rodeo, with him charging through life and our house like a bull straight out of the chute – his energy knows no bounds. Every time he decides to make a break for it, I'm off on a wild chase as his infectious laughter echos amidst my frantic pursuit.

Despite the hurdles he faces, Brantley's enthusiasm for life is unwavering. His every move is bursting with energy, like a tightly coiled spring just waiting to unleash. His giggles, jumps, and squeals that fill the air are a clear sign of his boundless joy.

When he's on a wild streak, it's like trying to tame the toughest bull in the rodeo. His unstoppable energy propels him forward with such force that caregivers like me often find ourselves right in the line of his exuberance – sometimes resulting in a few bumps and bruises along the way.

As I sit here nursing a sore elbow and a bruised and swollen hand, both souvenirs from my recent attempts to rein in Brantley's escapades, I can't help but laugh at the whirlwind he brings into our lives.

Despite the occasional bumps, bruises, and scratches, there's a deep understanding that Brantley's antics are never meant to harm. They're simply his way of experiencing life with his larger-than-life personality.

While I do my best to prevent any injuries from occurring, I find solace in knowing that the ones that slip through are just a side effect of his extreme happiness. And though I dream of a day when caring for Brantley doesn't result in any injuries, at the end of the day, a happy child is what every parent truly desires. #autismfamily #autismlife #disability
